چکیده

Waste-to-Energy (WtE) is becoming an important application sector for carbon capture utilization and storage (CCS) due to its role in urban waste management inherent potential of achieving negative emissions. This study built upon a series modelling activities, with three representative WtE plant steam cycle configurations selected integrate monoethanolamine (MEA) based Post-combustion CO2 Capture (PCC). With 60% biogenic the fuel, set key performance indicators investigated are presented. Results show that there significant heat recovery from PCC process provide District Heating (DH). advanced recovery, energy utility factor (EUF) could be higher than without PCC. also optimised design can used enable ultra-high (99.72% this study) achieved only marginal increase specific reboiler duty when compared 95% capture. highlights importance differentiating intensities different product bases: electrical or thermal waste, which comparing CCS other saving technologies. The findings valuable information future implementation dioxide technology sector.

Energy Savings Potential through Waste Heat Recovery from Flue Gas for Post Combustion Co2 Capture

Flue gas from a plant using fossil fuels contains CO2. Thus power/process plants using fossil fuels contribute to climate change if CO2 in flue gas is not captured. The process of CO2 capture from flue gas is called „postcombustion‟ CO2 capture. Existing plants may be retrofitted with this process to minimize CO2 emission. Amine solutions are mostly used for this process to scrub the flue gas. ...

Biomass Waste Carbon Materials as adsorbents for CO2 Capture under Post-Combustion Conditions

A series of porous carbon materials obtained from biomass waste have been synthesized, with different morphologies and structural properties, and evaluated as potential adsorbents for CO2 capture in post-combustion conditions. These carbon materials present CO2 adsorption capacities, at 25°C and 101.3 kPa, comparable to those obtained by other complex carbon or inorganic materials. Furthermore,...

Systems Analysis of Ionic Liquids for Post-combustion CO2 Capture at Coal-fired Power Plants

The main objective of this study is to investigate the feasibility and costs of ionic liquid (IL)-based CO2 capture systems at pulverized coal-fired (PC) power plants. The IL selected for this assessment is trihexyl(tetradecyl)phosphonium 2-cyanopyrrolide ([P66614][2-CNpyr]), achieving a 1:1 and reversible chemical reaction between [2-CNpyr] and CO2. A multi-stage equilibrium-based modeling fra...

Capital Costs and Energy Considerations of Different Alternative Stripper Configurations for Post Combustion Co2 Capture

Capturing and storing the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide (CO2) produced by power plants and factories before it is emitted to the atmosphere could play a major role in minimizing climate change. Among of the different technologies, aqueous amine absorption/stripping is a promising one. In this study 5 different configurations for aqueous absorption/stripping have been compared with regard to cap...

Optimal conception of a post-combustion CO2 capture unit with assessment of solvent degradation

The combination of growing energy demand and environmental concerns has made the development of CO2 capture and storage technologies a necessity for the near-future energy mix. Post-combustion CO2 capture is one of the most mature technologies for reducing CO2 emissions in power plants. As a next step for the technology development, large-scale demonstration capture plants have to be implemente...
